Transpiration is the process of water being taken into and evaporating from plants. It evaporates through pores, called stomata, in the leaf. The water comes from moisture from the soil. This water brings up dissolved minerals from the soil.It also helps keep the plant moist.
The roots of the plant absorb the moisture from the soil. As aforementioned the water brings up dissolved minerals and vitamins from the soil.
Intentionally, the purpose of stomata is actually to take in air so that photosynthesis can take place. Stomata are not intended for evaporation as the plant may dry out if it loses too much water.
Transpiration is an important and essential process. It helps keep the plant healthy and therefore contributes to our survival, since photosynthesis must take place in order to supply our oxygen.
